Clear the way for beautiful skin
Not only do you want to put your best foot forward, you want to put your best face forward, too. A beautiful, radiant complexion is an essential part of looking and feeling your best — whether you’re on the job, out on date night or relaxing at home in PJs and no makeup.
Laser skin resurfacing treatments revitalize lackluster skin by erasing signs of aging and environmental damage. By removing the most severely damaged outer layers of your skin, a laser treatment reveals the fresh, healthy-looking skin beneath and encourages new cell growth. Dr. Scott Levitt offers Contour TRL skin resurfacing at Levitt Medical Aesthetics to help patients in Albany and Corvallis achieve a refreshed and youthful look at every stage of life.

How it works
Laser technology harnesses the power of high-energy, focused beams of light for a variety of medical and cosmetic applications.
Contour TRL employs a dual-mode erbium:YAG laser that targets dead and damaged cells on the surface of the skin with specific wavelengths of light. With extreme precision, the laser removes thin layers of skin while causing minimal heat damage to the surrounding structures. This process erases visible imperfections and starts the production of new collagen and elastin for more profound and long-lasting improvements.
Light emitted by an erbium:YAG laser is highly absorbed by the water in skin cells. This sets Contour TRL apart from carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers, which have comparatively low absorption by water and consequently conduct more heat into the tissue. Contour TRL produces similar results to CO2 lasers, but with fewer side effects and reduced downtime. The TRL stands for “tunable resurfacing laser,” which means the device can be adjusted or “tuned” to the precise depth needed to achieve your cosmetic goals.
The versatility Contour TRL makes it one of the most advanced and customizable laser resurfacing systems available.
What to expect
Once we identify your goals, we will select the device settings to suit your needs and your laser treatment can begin.
We will move the handpiece across the treatment area while it delivers laser energy into the precise depth of dermal tissue that has been prescribed for your treatment. The duration of the session will depend on the number and size of the treatment areas you wish to have addressed.
Deep skin resurfacing recovery time varies depending on the depth and intensity of the procedure. Following your treatment at our Albany office, you can expect your skin to be red and feel tender, similar to having a sunburn.
You may also experience swelling, pinpoint bleeding, feelings of tightness or warmth, mild discomfort, peeling or flaking. Dr. Levitt will provide you with aftercare instructions, including how to care for your vulnerable skin while it heals, how to manage any deep skin resurfacing side effects that develop, and when you can wear makeup. Patients may prefer to avoid work and social engagements until their skin has had time to heal.
Results from a laser skin resurfacing treatment appear gradually. Once the initial healing is complete, you will enjoy a smoother, clearer and more radiant complexion.
Over time, as the treatment stimulates the growth of new collagen and elastin fibers, you will notice improvements in deeper concerns, like wrinkles, scars, and lax skin. With good SPF and skincare habits, the benefits of your deep skin resurfacing procedure can last for years.
Before & after
FAQ
Depending on the depth of treatment, most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work within 10 to 14 days. Mild to moderate redness can be normal beyond the recovery time, but you can cover this with a breathable makeup. It is important to remember that not everyone heals at the same speed, and it would not be unusual if the healing process were to take longer.
Candidates for deep skin resurfacing with Contour TRL should be in good health and have realistic expectations about what the procedure can achieve. Candidates should also be prepared to follow all aftercare instructions and to return for additional treatments if needed to yield the desired outcome. Because we can adjust Contour TRL to the exact amount of energy needed for an individual treatment, it can achieve excellent results for patients of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. Dr. Levitt and his experienced team will evaluate your concerns to determine whether this is the right treatment for you.
Yes! We perform NanoLaserPeels™ and MicroLaserPeels™ using the Contour TRL platform. These are milder laser procedures and are a great option for patients who require less downtime. We may require more MicroLaserPeel or NanoLaserPeel treatments to meet your goals, however.
It is important to follow all instructions. We will give you some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk for infection and ensure the shortest healing time. Your new skin will be very sensitive to UV light and you must avoid sun exposure. You need to cover your skin, wear a hat, and religiously apply SPF 30+ if you have to go outdoors. Getting into this habit daily also ensures longer-lasting results from your deep resurfacing treatment.
Pain tolerance varies from patient to patient. We will discuss your anesthesia options to properly manage any discomfort from the treatment. We will provide local anesthesia in addition to Pro Nox nitrous oxide during the procedure. We may also provide oral pain or anxiety medications. Most patients describe the post-procedure feeling as a bad sunburn; this feeling will subside in a few days. Cold compresses also help subdue the discomfort.
