A leap forward in skin rejuvenation
The state-of-the-art Subnovii plasma pen at Levitt Medical Aesthetics in Albany, OR harnesses the power of plasma.
Also called fibroblast skin tightening, our Subnovii plasma pen allows us to gently ablate or “aerate” the surface of your skin, super charging fibroblasts, or the cells in the skin in charge of collagen production. Collagen, the beauty protein, provides a strong foundational layer to the skin and is a substance abundant during youth. As collagen production slows over time, it can leave you with loose or sagging skin, wrinkles, and an overall dull complexion.

How it works
Plasma is just another state of matter, like liquid or gas.
The principle behind the Subnovii plasma pen involves the ionization of gases from the air to create a micro-electrical discharge, or ARC. The ARC never touches the skin, but causes a micro injury to the skin’s epidermal layer whilst simultaneously heating and disrupting the skin’s deepest layers via thermal conductions. It effectively uses the fine layer of ionized gas, or plasma, that exists along the surface of your skin. Plasma devices emit energy that instantly sublimates a precise spot on the skin area, creating a red dot grid pattern on the skin.
A sealed wound is created and shock delivered to the tissue below to stimulate fibroblast activity which stimulates collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production. The tip of the plasma device never actually touches the skin, but it’s the power of molecular physics that gives this treatment its edge.
Subnovii is the most advanced plasma technology on the market today. Subnovii is FDA-cleared, and the first plasma device that uses LF+ technology: low-frequency + a patented wavelength and power combination. This exclusive energy output allows for more precise applications and reduced healing time. Subnovii is not your ordinary plasma pen. It’s best-in-class plasma technology is the result of over 6 years of development and testing by industry leading third-parties.

What to expect
Immediately following your plasma pen treatment at our Albany office, your skin will be red, swollen, and potentially bruised.
We expect this, and it’s even necessary to trigger the body’s wound healing response. Over the next several days, “carbon crusts” will form on the treatment area(s) that will flake and peel on their own. It is incredibly important that you do not pick, scrub, or otherwise try to speed up the shedding of these crusts as you risk scarring or infection.
Every patient will receive specially formulated post-care products and instructions from Dr. Levitt to keep the area dry to help with the healing process.
It is important to use SPF 30+ sun protection long after treatment and incorporate this into your daily skincare routine.
Plasma pen results are both immediate and cumulative.
Many patients notice tighter skin within the first week after their treatment. Progressive results, such as improved smoothness and added firmness, are typically seen 3 months after the treatment. Depending on your skin’s condition and goals for treatment with our plasma pen, Dr. Levitt may recommend an additional 1 or 2 treatments to achieve optimal results. Improvements can last for up to 3 years!
Before & after
FAQ
As we age, collagen and elastin production in our body decreases—starting at the young age of 20, the dermis layer of our skin produces 1% less collagen every year we age. When you stimulate these fibroblasts, they spring into action—repairing tissue damage and recreating collagen.
Most patients are a candidate for this procedure, however, some skin types may be at risk of post-procedure hyper- or hypopigmentation (Fitzpatrick type IV or darker). Dr. Levitt will review all of this during your consultation and recommend the appropriate procedure for your skin type and tone.
Most people have no problem with the treatment and say they hardly feel anything since the numbing cream has done its job. However, this depends on your unique pain threshold and sensitivity levels. If you are nervous about potential discomfort during the treatment, Dr. Levitt will discuss your pain management options with you, including local anesthetic or self-administered Pro-Nox.
Once the desired results from the Plasma treatment have been achieved (typically in 1 to 3 sessions), they will last between 3 to 5 years on average. This is because the skin continues aging at the natural rate—so some people may not need it further touch up treatments and others may like another treatment after several years to maintain results.
