How it works
One of the most popular skin laser procedures we perform at Levitt Medical Aesthetics is Sciton’s MicroLaserPeel™ on our Cotour TRL laser platform.
This advanced laser treatment uses an Erbium Yag laser with a precise ablative wavelength that allows us to tailor the treatment specifically to your lifestyle and goals.
An ablative laser removes the epidermal layer of skin, producing the most dramatic laser-treated results for skin resurfacing. By triggering the skin’s powerful natural healing response, this laser promotes collagen formation and retraction of the dermis and epidermis to tighten the skin.
The MicroLaserPeel’s beam is scanned over a treatment area to remove a very thin layer of the skin. Removing the top layer eliminates some damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look.
As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness.
Patients often say that it looks like their skin went from looking tired to vibrant.
What to expect
A consultation & thorough skin analysis with Dr. Levitt will ensure the MicroLaserPeel skin laser treatments will meet your goals.
We will also provide you with all necessary pre-treatment instructions, including medications or supplements, med spa treatments, and any topical skincare products you may need to avoid. On the day of your laser treatment, arrive at our Albany office with a clean, dry face and comfortable clothing. We will first apply a topical numbing cream. For the skin laser treatment, you will be seated or lying down and we will protect your eyes from the laser with special safety shields. Dr. Levitt will then treat the area(s) of your skin section by section, positioning the laser handpiece above the skin and holding it in place as a computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam around the treatment area.
Since we tailor each MicroLaserPeel skin laser treatment to each individual’s needs, each patient responds differently to laser skin resurfacing treatments.
However, you should be prepared to take up to 5 days off work and social activities while your skin recovers. Typically, patients’ skin will be red and swollen immediately after the treatment and may feel like a sunburn. The skin may also appear more “bronzed” while the targeted spots of hyperpigmentation resolve themselves.
Most patients don’t notice results from their laser skin resurfacing treatment right away.
Results can take a few days to appear, and the improvement process continues for many months afterward. As the skin heals and regenerates tissues and collagen, patients notice diminished lines & wrinkles, less noticeable keratosis pilaris, a more even complexion, and tighter, more radiant skin.
With adequate sun protection, healthy skin care practices, and regular evaluations & treatments at Levitt Medical Aesthetics, patients can extend results of their skin laser treatments for years!

FAQ
If you are bothered by the signs of aging, including sun damage & dark pigmentation, uneven skin tone, or keratosis pilaris, and you do not mind a treatment that may require 4 to 5 days of downtime, you are likely a good candidate for our skin laser in Albany, OR. Thanks to the MicroLaserPeel’s flexibility, we can customize your laser skin resurfacing treatment to your specific needs. We can even balance the aggressiveness of the treatment to put you in more control of your recovery time. During your initial consultation with Dr. Levitt, he will evaluate your health & medical history, explain the laser treatment process, and go over all your questions. Only then can we ensure you are an ideal candidate for the MicroLaserPeel.
You can get excellent results in just one treatment, however the number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient. Dr. Levitt personalizes a plan based on your specific needs and may combine MicroLaserPeel with other aesthetic procedures at our office to further personalize your treatment.
One of the primary advantages of MicroLaserPeel is that it causes little pain because it does not penetrate very deep into the skin. At its most shallow settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anesthetic at all. At deeper settings, we typically use a topical numbing cream.
It is important to follow all instructions from Dr. Levitt. We will give you some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk for infection and ensure the shortest healing time. Your new skin will be very sensitive to UV light, and you must avoid sun exposure while it heals. You need to cover your skin, wear a hat, and religiously apply SPF 30+ if you have to go outdoors. Getting into this habit daily also ensures longer-lasting results from your deep resurfacing treatment.
Yes! We perform NanoLaserPeels™ and deep skin resurfacing using the Contour TRL platform. These laser procedures offer different benefits with varying downtime and are a great option for patients who can tolerate more or need less downtime.
